Well life can be quite tough during a recession and during difficult financial times; this I suppose is where the men stand out from the boys so to speak. I have been involved in business for a long time now and I have had my fair share of successes and failures. I used to be involved with poster printing however I now run an SEO company and I also offer cheap calls on a part-time basis.

 

As I become slightly older and more mature I feel like I understand what it takes to make a business work. The first element is flexibility; forget your normal nine to five – I often find myself working late into the night. Do not get me wrong I do not work over fifty hours a week but if needed I will work at weekends or during the night but I then take a day off to compensate myself.

 

I also believe in networking; I love to attend a business breakfast club as this is a great way of meeting people and to of course obtain those all important referrals. Now there are many many different ways to network one of which is via the internet. I am sure that you have all heard of social media networking via websites such as Twitter and Facebook – well these are other areas where we can gain business.

 

The internet is a lot more than just social media; to have a website that fully explains the services that you offer riding high in the search engine rankings can be like gold dust. To have an online presence is a must in this day and age and it can also help your business reach that next level.
